We all got ready to go to Madakasira hill. Every child carried a bottle of water.
Pallavi and Ramnjinamma took care of lunch, chapatti and chutney. We had a quick breakfast and left at 8.30 to Mekalapalli bus station. The bus was pretty crowded. When we got down the bus, we walked for some time and asked everyone the shortest direction to the hill. One old man came with us till the beginning of the easy road. We had a few drink stops during our climb of the hill. It was very nice and cool on top. On the highest peak there is a bell and everyone rang it. There were so many monkeys. Everyone was frightened of seeing the monkeys, but actually the monkeys were more frightened of us. There is a pool. Madhan, Iris and a couple of Madakasira kids had a good swim. We had lunch and checked out the whole place. We asked a young man about the fort. One said that it was built by Sri Krishna Devarailu, about 400 years ago. Near the place of the Shingamithi (small shelter), the walls had fallen but now it was reconstructed by the people of Tamil Nadu. After it had fallen, they found so many things like weapons and gold of the olden days. All the people of Madakasira climbed the hill and made some Puja to Shiva after Ugadi. That night they stayed there and came back to their houses the next day. Then we climbed down. Our water was already finished, so it was nice to drink a cold juice back on the foot of the hill. The bus returned us to Mekalapalli, where we bought oil to celebrate Deepavali. It was a nice day…
